SST Consumables stocks electrolytic copper for Sinker EDM. Electrolytic copper (also known as 110 copper, oxygen free copper, or buss bar copper) is basically pure copper. As such, it has excellent EDM properties giving maximum wear and superb metal removal rate. However, it is difficult to machine as it is rather “gummy” and deburring could be a lifetime job. Electrolytic copper is best suited to female electrode blanks that will only be wire cut.
As is standard with tellurium copper in the as-rolled condition, this material exhibits a significant amount of residual stress.
